Multilingual awareness tool
Berlin, November 26, 2025 – The Renewable Energy Agency (AEE) and the Berlin Governance Platform (BGP) are strengthening European and international cooperation on climate protection. They are launching the free 'Awareness Toolkit' – a five-language resource designed to assist municipal actors, businesses, educational institutions, and other organizations in raising awareness about the energy transition.
The toolkit was developed in close collaboration with several European municipalities as part of the "Energy Transition Town Twinnings 3.0" project, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Under the motto 'From awareness to action: understanding renewable energies and climate protection solutions,' this resource is now available as a ready-to-use PowerPoint presentation on the AEE website. It serves to educate the general population, employees, pupils, and students about climate change and the energy transition, highlighting concrete, easily implementable steps for daily life.
The project's partner cities from Ukraine (Novovolynsk and Chernivtsi), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Goražde), the Republic of Moldova (Bălți) and Germany (Düsseldorf, Stuttgart, Greifswald and Hoyerswerda) were the driving forces behind the development of the Awareness Toolkit. The toolkit is available in German, English, Ukrainian, Bosnian, and Romanian. It includes relevant examples from the participating EU candidate countries to emphasize their specific challenges and successes, showcasing parallels and potential starting points for their own climate protection initiatives and cooperations.
"The tool provides low-threshold access to energy transition information that local authorities and other interested institutions can directly use and expand upon," says Dr. Robert Brandt, Managing Director of AEE. "We would be delighted to see it widely distributed – even beyond the EU's borders."
