In 2022 wind energy had the largest share in German electricity production: gross electricity production from onshore and offshore wind energy had a total share of about 23 % (net). In 2022 we had 28,443 onshore wind turbines with a total installed capacity of 58,106 MW in Germany. 551 onshore wind turbines with a capacity of 2,403 MW were newly installed.
Inaddition to this 1,539 offshore wind turbines (OWEA) with a total capacity of 8.1 GW were in operation in Germany. Of these, 38 plants with a total output of 342 MW fed into the power grid for the first time in 2022.
