Employment in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector in the European Union
The renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors are not only driving forward independence from fossil fuels, but are also a significant growth of jobs in the European Union. In 2022, employment reached a new high of over 2.5 million full-time equivalents in the EU – more than ever before. This represents massive growth compared to the year 2000, when the number of employees was just over 500,000. Over more than two decades, there has been a clear and continuous upward trend in job creation. This development strengthens regional value creation, promotes the European economy and increases energy policy sovereignty.
